started by a designer
state didn't start with a roastery. it started with a designer who cared how things were made, and couldn't find coffee that would tell him where it came from.
so this became that. a small brand that asks the questions first, and prints the answers on the bag.
built around the morning
coffee is the centre of it, not the whole of it. the morning is a ritual — how you brew, what you wear while the kettle heats, what sits on the counter.
so alongside the roasts there's apparel, and the things you brew with. it grows slowly. nothing joins the shelf until we'd use it ourselves.
we back local roasters
we don't roast. we find independent roasters doing careful work close to home, and we put our name next to theirs — chosen for how they roast, not what they charge.
verified from the estate
every batch is a single-estate lot from the western ghats. origin, altitude, harvest, process, roast date — all of it printed on the bag and scannable, down to the week.
if we can't verify it, we don't claim it.
kept simple
one batch at a time. roasted after you order it, ground for how you brew, and delivered in bengaluru while it's still fresh.
